5K & Fun Day!

The weather report was calling for a pretty wet and rainy weekend but we actually had some nice weather. Saturday afternoon when the rain broke we headed to Fisherman's Paradise with the dogs.

As you can see Cooper was loving the golden rainbow trout at the hatchery! He would have been in there in a second if we would have let him. Luna on the other hand was a little more timid which makes sense since some of the fish were as big as her.
We wondered why so many people were along the stream. Kinda cool that a big competition was going on.
Then we got a phone call from Jenny that she had just decided to run a 5k in State College on Sunday. Try as she might, I decided to take pictures rather than run in it myself. Here are Jen's adoring fans waiting for her at the finish line.

And after the race we came back to our house to watch some football and "play" in the backyard. I say play but really Jenny, Jed, & Lara spent a ton of time cleaning up all the leaves in the backyard. Thank you guys so much for visiting (and the gorgeous yard you left us!). We always enjoy the company of your family so much!

Still Snowing

It is still snowing! Campus has about 5 inches down. However in Bellefonte we don't have near that amount. It made my fieldwork this morning a little tougher than usual. I can't believe that tailgating before homecoming is cancelled (see below)!!! Lara and I were going to take in the homecoming parade tonight but we might just snuggle up at home instead.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- A winter storm has brought more than 4 inches of snow in some higher elevations of western Pennsylvania, with lesser amounts in New Jersey and upstate New York.

The National Weather Service says there's 4.5 inches of snow in State College, Pa., and 2 more inches possible through Saturday morning. Penn State has canceled any tailgating in Beaver Stadium's paved parking lots before Saturday's homecoming football game against Minnesota because of worsening weather forecasts. All grass lots have been closed.

SNOW!!!

Unfortunately, I am at work and unable to post pics but we have been getting a steady dose of snow for the past few hours. Our forecast is currently: Winter Weather Forecast - Hazardous Weather Outlook. It calls for about an inch in most areas with the potential for 3 inches.

In other news, Lara and I are visiting the hospital tonight. We can't believe how close we are to meeting our baby. We now go to the Dr. every week and only have 4.5 weeks until the due date. He/She has been moving and kicking like crazy.

Another Great One!!!

Last weekend we traveled to Cook Forest for Nate's (Lara's brother's son's) 2nd birthday. When we were planning the trip I told Lara that I wanted to take the dogs and pitch a tent at the property by the Clarion river. I figured she would sleep at her parents' place. Much to my surprise, she thought camping sounded like a great idea. I assumed throughout pregnancy Lara would be justifiably tired and moody. She has been neither. Even with her her big belly, I constantly have to remind myself that she is pregnant. She still does it all and never complains. I mean come on, how many pregnant women in their 8th month sleep in a tent in 40 degree weather! I am so glad she joined me because we had so much fun.

Then on Sunday it was on to Nate's Outdoor-themed party. The kids had a blast.
Jeff had a nice fire going to keep everybody warm and to dry out a kid or two.
I stole Luke from Jenny and Jed (& Lara!) for most of the day.
Lisa made an awesome cake complete with edible trees.
Although I think Nate found more pleasure in eating it rather than looking at it. It was great party and we were so happy to be there to share in it. Happy 2nd B-day Nate!
Much like last weekend this one ended with a policeman peeking in my car window. However, this time he was offering assistance rather than handing over a ticket. Unfortunately the mighty wagon let us down on the way back home from Cook Forest. About a half hour into the drive it sounded like someone threw a wrench in the motor! We abruptly pulled over to find the water pump had basically broke in two and was bouncing around under the hood. Thankfully, my Dad always gets us AAA plus for Christmas and we gladly used a free tow. Also Lara's Dad drove out to pick us up and take us home. The worst part of all was that we were stuck in traffic for 1.5 hours due to construction (& an accident?) after Dale picked us up. Eventually both us and the car made it home safe and sound. I fixed the car today and it is running like new (& for only $30!). This next weekend we will be heading to New York to celebrate Alivia's B-day. I am hoping the only police officer I talk to is my brother.
