November

The 2 big events in November are Grant's B-day and Thanksgiving.  This year they were on the same day...just like the year he was born.

We had his birthday party the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  It was lego-themed and Lara (& Jenny) made a great cake.  The Fiscus family spent the whole weekend at our house since Jenny and Lara were not going to do their usual Black Friday shopping.

It is hard to believe that Grant is 6.  Lara and I are so proud of him.  He is excelling in school both socially and academically.  He loves legos, video games, and is still into space.  He loves doing schoolwork and at one point said,"I don't know why they call this homework, it should be called home-fun!"  He has little homework assignments that he has a week to complete and he usually gets them done the first night.  At parent teacher conferences his teacher said he is the old soul of the classroom.  She said she can always depend on him to be a good role model, and that makes a Mom and Dad proud.

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving.  We spent it at my Dad's house with Jason, Heather, Cody, and Carly.  The weather was in the 60's and so we were outside the whole day and grilled burgers, hot dogs, and deer steaks.

We also got to meet Scarlet, the newest addition to Jason's family.

October highlights continued

Lara ran the Ellicottville Fall Festival 5k.

And of course, Halloween!  The kids got a lot of use out of their costumes this year.  We trick-or-treated with friends along the Erie Canal at an event called the Haunted Harbor, Gracie wore her costume to her zoo class & her library class, Grant wore his costume to school , and on the actual holiday we met up with all of Lara's family and Papa Jim to trick-or-treat in Sigel.

October highlights

Ben & Nate's birthday party...

which was followed by a family canoe trip (& picnic) the next day on the Clarion river.

We hiked the eternal flame trail in WNY.  It is a natural gas emission that is burning behind a waterfall.  It was a pretty strenuous hike and the kids did great and had so much fun.

Other September fun...

Lara ran the Mighty Niagara half-marathon.

We had a fire and watched the supermoon eclipse.

We went to the Light the Night walk in Erie with Dad, Uncle Skip, and the Hetricks.

And all the everyday fun things.
