Rest In Peace Cooper

Let life be as beautiful as summer flowers
And death as beautiful as autumn leaves.
~Rabindranath Tagore

On  June 7th we had to euthanize Cooper after discovering just that day that he had cancer throughout his body.  We miss him dearly but are happy for all the memories that we have with him.  These are just a few recent photos of Coop.

At the vet when the kids realized that Cooper would die from the cancer Grant said, "but he is my favorite dog to hug."  Me too Grant, me too.

Devil's Hole State Park

We decided to hike at Devil's Hole State Park a few weeks ago.  It is a steep hike down to the Niagara and consequently, a steep hike back up.  I wasn't sure how the kids would fare but they both did awesome.  Grant even did the entire hike with a hydration pack on his back.

These red-banded millipedes were EVERYWHERE in the gorge.

Memorial Day...continued

Somehow after the Fiscuses left on Memorial Day, we mustered the energy to go for a hike along (and in) the Niagara.

Memorial Day - 42.2 K

The Fiscus family came for a visit over Memorial weekend as Jenny was running the Buffalo marathon that Sunday.  It was a great weekend and as expected, Jenny ran a fantastic race.  In addition to the expo and the race itself, we spent some time hunting for yard sales and playing in the backyard.

The girls took the car cruisin...

and sometimes had to stop for "beddy" cuddle breaks!

The weather was gorgeous all weekend.

The highlight of the running expo was a lady giving out free almond butter samples,  She was yelling out a bunch of things that stuck with the kids like,"it's not peanut buuuutter, it's allllllmond butter" and "don't just take one, take some".  Consequently we've been hearing (& saying) the almond butter lady's catch phrases for a week now.  Congrats Jen and thanks again for the running motivation and the great weekend!
