August

Gracie finally mastered the art of dunking!!!  She has been doing very good and is now totally good with jumping in the pool and going under!

Right at the end of Jeff's summer teaching session he went to a conference in Portland Oregon.

We went to the Botanical Gardens in Canada to see a Lego display they had going on there.  It was so neat, the kids really enjoyed it.

We went on a hike and I was pointing something out to the kids when a little bird landed on my finger.  That is when we realized these birds were use to being fed and were looking for us to feed them.  The kids got a kick out of them landing on their fingers.

May 15th - 23rd we were on a road trip to Maine to visit Cam, Mandy, Eden, and Aria.  Our first stop was a night of camping in the Adirondacks.  We camped at Lake Durant (site 34) in Blue Mountain Lake, NY.  It was a great first stop.  We had a little path that led right to the Lake.  The kids saw ducks and enjoyed fishing right from our site.  We were only there one night and then were headed on to Lake Placid to see the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex.

Once we left Lake Placid we headed to South Burlington, Vermont to spend the night in a hotel.  That night we ate out at Chili's and swam in the pool.  The next day we got up and it was a short drive to get to the Ben and Jerry's factory.  We did a tour, ate some ice cream, and of course came home with a few souvenirs.

There was an ice cream flavor graveyard and everyone picked their favorite flavor!

We left there and headed to Franconia Notch State Park in New Hampshire.  There we camped one night at Lafayette Place Campground at site number 7.  The kids found a big rock in the woods that they had fun playing on while Jeff and I were getting camp set up.  We got set up and decided to go get a hike in because they were calling for rain the next day.  We did a easy but very pretty hike called The Basin.   Sure enough, in the morning we were packing up in the rain.  We drove to North Conway, New Hampshire and stopped at the Blueberry Muffin for lunch and an L.L. Bean outlet that was there!!  After that we were on our way to Cam's and got to his place around 4 and had to set up a wet tent!  It rained that night at his place too.  The edges of the tent were wet but as hard and as long as it rained I can't believe it wasn't worse.

The Basin Hike

Here are just a few pictures of the fun all the kid's had together.  Maine is always a highlight of the summer.  We have been going to Cam's house for the the past 3 summers now.  Always a fun trip to catch up with everyone.

Once we left Cam's house we drove to Freeport to spend the night.  Every year we like to spend some time in Freeport and shop.  After we spent the night the next day we drove to Raymond, ME where our friend Nick and Briana moved when they left Tonawanda.  We just stayed for the day and then got further down the road to break up the trip a little.  It was a quick swim in the morning and then driving the rest of the way home.

Last day of vacation.  West Springfield, Massachusetts.

A few day after we got home Amy, Zach, and the kids came up to do the Maid of the Mist.

We went to the Aerospace Museum in Niagara  Falls.

At the very end of the month we had supply drop off/meet the teacher day for both Grace and Grant!
