The Christmas season started out with a trip to our local country store on the Island to see Santa, his reindeer, and get our Christmas tree. Neither one of the kids wanted to sit on Santa's lap but they were both happy to see him.
Grant had his Kindergarten Christmas program on December 17th. He was fighting off a cold and we later found out he also had a double ear infection but he was a champ and did a great job on stage. Papa Jim made the trip and came a day early to be here for his play that morning.
After the program everyone got to go back up to the classroom and we had a little party with everyone's family. I am so excited to have this picture of him and his teacher. Jim asked his teacher if he could get a picture of him and her together. We were all surprised when Grant was excited to take the picture.

Jeff and I just thought this was so cute. One of his papers he did at school that was on the wall in the hallway. This is so Grant that he wrote this.

Next was our trip down to see Aunt Peg and Aunt Connie...a great visit as always. We were very lucky with our travels as there was absolutely no snow to be seen!!
On Christmas Eve the kids always open up the presents they got each other. This year Jeff and I got to open up a present Grant made us at school. Best present of the season by far.
Santa Came!
We always like to leave cookies and carrots for Santa and his reindeer. They were really hungry this year!
We had a great Christmas morning and were too busy enjoying it to take many pictures. We did set-up the video camera and let it record though. Here are the kids after waking up in the morning before heading down the steps. They were up at 6:15 and had their presents opened before the sun came up.
It was as special and magical as you would expect a Christmas morning to be with a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old. Grant got the light-up legos that he really wanted and Gracie got lots of kitty stuff including a large stuffed kitty. They both got a bunch of other stuff too. After the morning at our house we went to Grandma & Papa's to celebrate. We spent the night there and came back the next day.
Our festivities weren't done though...or so we thought. We were going to celebrate Christmas with Papa Jim and Jason's family in a couple of days. Unfortunately on the way to our house on the 27th, Jason, Heather and the kids were in a bad car accident. Someone sped through a stop sign t-boning their car. Heather was in ICU for a week with serious damage to her ribs, vertebrae and spleen. She also had her head stapled. Cody broke his pelvis in 4 places and was sent to a children's hospital an hour away from the hospital where Heather was. Carly had a black eye. Jason had a concussion and got stitches in his head. Heather was at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio which is a little less then an hour from Jim's house. So we stayed at his house for a night during our visits to see them at the hospital.
Thankfully as I write this they are at home healing. Heather has the toughest road ahead of her but is getting better everyday. The road to recovery may be a tough one...but we are happy they are here and able to walk it!
Much to the kids delight, the presents from Jason and Heather (including the scooters pictured) made it through the accident.
