On to Baltimore

A few days after getting back from Maine we were on to Baltimore.  I was presenting some research at the Ecological Society of America meeting and convinced the family to come along.

We stayed in the Inner Harbor and so it was a short walk to the aquarium and other fun things to do.  Grant suggested riding these dragon boats and we all enjoyed it.

We saw the rain clouds rolling in and knew we would get drenched on the walk home.

This was our return trip to the National Aquarium as we had been there when Grant was just a little guy (http://lawsnews.blogspot.com/2011/04/day-at-national-aquarium.html).

One of Lara's friends is a dolphin trainer there so we got to duck under the rope and get a little closer to the tank.  Just after this pic, the dolphin that is nicely posing tried to get us all wet.

I just love this pic.

While there, we also took a day to enjoy Washington D.C.  We road the metro into the city and walked all around especially taking time to see the Natural History Museum.  Unfortunately the large dinosaur exhibit is closed until 2019 but we still had plenty to see.

The kids were such troopers walking around all day.

We all enjoyed the trip and the conference itself was fantastic.  I made some new connections in addition to sharing my research.
